ETHIOPIA • MUDA TATESA
A returning lot with a new name! This crop comes by way of Aleco at Red Fox and Dagne Chomen of Welichu Wachu. Dagne ran quality control for many years at the Oromia Cooperative Union before starting his own washing station network, which includes Muda Tatesa. He works very closely with farmers in the Ugo Begne and Yabitu Koba forests (which is the label I used for this coffee last harvest) and employs over 750 people at his three processing sites. This lot is an impressive 90% Kudum (which is commonly recognized as Bourbon).
Muda Tatesa is like a bright and summery day at the beach. There are wave upon wave of flavours, starting with stone fruit with warm peach and nectarine flavours. This cascades into the citrus acidity of lime and clean notes of black tea. This surges into a piquant and complex florality that smells and tastes like fresh cut flowers. It is vibrant, clean, refreshing, or other words, a perfect example of a wonderful Guji!
