ETHIOPIA • TUMA TESSO
Summer's heat and humidity may be a distant memory but all that feeling of bright warmth endures in every cup of Tuma Tesso! It is such a brilliant example of what the Agaro region offers with an opening burst of sweet apricot and satisfying nectarine. The acidity is carried by floral jasmine notes and builds into a buttery vanilla-forward profile. It is very close to a pie crust or flaky danish. The finish is full of vibrant orange and sweetness, think orange skittles or creamsicle .
I love sourcing Ethiopian coffees with Aleco from Red Fox. He has a very long-standing and mutually beneficial relationship with the Kata Muduga Cooperative Union. They are renowned for their network of stations in Oromia, which include Duromina, Nano Challa, last Summer's Nano Genji and former Magnolia favorite Yukro. Tuma Tesso is the newest addition to the Cooperative network - with this being their first harvest! It is hard to tell given the quality and complexity of the the cup.
